Our favourite waterfalls to explore

We are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such unbelievably beautiful natural swimming holes and waterfalls. Mostly located in Byron’s hinterland, you will need a car to access these spots, as without guaranteed reception, ordering a taxi or Uber can be unreliable.

Minon
Also located in Nightcap National Park, this is the perfect adventure for those up for a hike. With a 3-hour and 45-minute walk along a moderately challenging route, you can cool off with a swim at the base of the impressive waterfall. On a clear day, you can look out to the coast and experience spectacular views from the top.

Tosha Falls
Located 3 km from Alstonville, these beautiful falls and surrounding shady forest area are a mere 5-minute walk from the car park and offer a quiet oasis to relax and enjoy.

Killen
A short 25-minute drive from Byron, Killen Falls (pictured) is a beautiful spot to spend the day reading on the rocks or floating in the natural pool. Located a short 5-minute walk from the car park, with public toilets available, bring some snacks and spend the day.

Protester Falls
Located in Nightcap National Park, Protester Falls takes you through a beautiful short (1.4 km return) walk through the rainforest to stand at the bottom of the incredible waterfall. Although you can‘t swim, it‘s truly a must-see!
